Apple is getting ready to release its yearly big software updates for iPhones and iPads this month. This news comes from Mark Gurman, a trusted Apple reporter at Bloomberg.
This time, Apple is doing something different. They are releasing iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 at the same time, unlike last year when they did it one after the other.
Mark Gurman, who knows a lot about what’s happening at Apple, says that they are almost done with iOS 17 and iPadOS 17. Right now, the eighth beta versions of these new operating systems are out. If things go as planned, these betas are almost like the final versions, which means iOS 17 should be coming soon.
Last year, Apple released iPadOS 16 on October 24th, more than a month after iOS 16 was out. They did this to make sure they had enough time to improve a new app called ‘Stage Manager,’ which had some problems during testing.
Some cool things about iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 are:
Caller Pictures: When someone calls you, your iPhone will show you a picture of the person along with their name and where they are. You can also make your own pictures for your contacts.
Live Voicemail: If someone leaves you a voicemail, you can see what they said in text and listen to it while they are still recording.
FaceTime Voicemail: If you miss a FaceTime call, you can send or get a video or audio message from the person who called.
StandBy: When you’re charging your iPhone and it’s lying flat, it turns into a smart screen that shows you different things.
Safari Profiles: You can have different profiles in Safari for different things like work, personal stuff, or shopping. Each profile has its own bookmarks, history, tabs, and settings.
AirDrop Improvements: Now you can send files to lots of devices at the same time and even to devices that are not in your contacts, using QR codes.
Better Autocorrect and Predictive Text: The keyboard on iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 is smarter and can suggest words and phrases that fit what you’re writing.
NameDrop: You can share your name, picture, and other info with people you meet by using your phone or a QR code. You can also scan other people’s QR codes to add them to your contacts.
Mood Tracking: There’s a feature that helps you keep track of how you’re feeling throughout the day using the ‘Health’ app. It can also show you how different things like sleep, activity, and the weather affect your mood.
