In a strong critique of the central government, Rahul Gandhi, a prominent Congress party leader, criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led administration. He said that both the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi seem to favor a few wealthy Indian individuals, particularly highlighting recent allegations of stock manipulation involving the Adani Group.
Gandhi mentioned a report from the Financial Times, which claimed that billionaire Gautam Adani had allegedly moved a lot of money from India to inflate the stock prices of his own companies.
Speaking in Chhattisgarh during an ongoing election, Gandhi stressed that the focus of future governments in Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Telangana, and Madhya Pradesh should be on helping the underprivileged rather than supporting Adani and similar magnates.
Gandhi also suggested that PM Modi’s reluctance to investigate the Adani Group might be due to his own interests, and he hinted that the consequences of such investigations would affect more than just Adani.
