This move follows the government’s earlier decision to lift the mobile internet ban on September 23, which had been in place since May 3 due to ethnic clashes.

The government’s decision to limit mobile internet for the next five days is because they are concerned about the current situation in the state, including false information and rumors being spread on social media.
Since May 3, 2023, Manipur has seen significant unrest after a violent clash between two communities. According to data from Manipur Police, this unrest has resulted in 175 deaths, 1,118 injuries, and 32 people going missing. There have also been 5,172 cases of arson, including the burning of 4,786 houses and 386 religious places. Unfortunately, 96 bodies remain unidentified.
