Twitch Bans Fake Rockstar GTA 6 Scam
For all the GTA fans out there eagerly awaiting GTA 6, the excitement has hit an all-time high. But keen-eyed fans, checking out Rockstar Games’ 10-year celebration of GTA 5 on social media, are getting vibes that news about GTA 6 is on the horizon. Amid the rumors, secret tipsters keep dropping bits of info and sneak peeks of gameplay.
Now, a tricky Twitch channel pretending to be the real deal popped up, promising exclusive beta access to GTA 6. But the fun was short-lived—the bigwigs at Amazon-owned Twitch caught wind of the scam, promptly shutting it down and banning it. Surprisingly, the fake account drew in a whopping 20,000 viewers. It went by the name “NewsRockstar” and shamelessly flaunted the iconic Rockstar logo.

The dodgy live stream boldly claimed, “GTA6 OUT NOW! [BETA] – Early Access Beta Test – Twitch and Steam Exclusive,” attracting thousands of hopeful fans. According to reports from StreamerBans on social media X (as spotted by Dexerto), the bogus video stream went on for over five hours before getting the boot.

Peeling back the layers of this scam, details from the fake channel’s social media spilled the beans—it was a partnered account dating back to 2013. This longevity made it look legit, helped by a verification badge that gave it an air of credibility, quickly pulling in a large audience.
A disappointed viewer shared, “It was a phishing stream, they claimed to offer access to the GTA 6 beta, but it was all a ploy to steal Steam accounts.” The trick relied on viewers clicking a link, unknowingly handing over their Steam login details.
